Welcome to the world of Sophie Alexis Wysocki! This page will always have her latest pictures. Everything from Summer 2008 and before is on the archive page.

[concert dress] Sophie is 7 years old! She weighs 60 pounds, and fits into 10 - 12 clothes and size 2 shoes. She loves to play outside and run around the neighborhood with the bigger kids. Her favorite sport is basketball lacrosse. The school had a 1st and 2nd grade basketball clinic on Mondays and Saturdays where they learned how to dribble and shoot. Sophie had fun and even scored a few baskets.

[lax clinic] But now her new passion is lacrosse. Our friend Susy helps run the Rec Dept lacrosse club and she asked Sophie to come to their 2nd grade clinic on Saturdays. Susy took a bunch of pictures for us.

Here is a page with pictures from March and April 2009. The highlight was the Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance and my pitiful attempt to work a hula hoop.

Her school held their annual Christmas concert and Sophie's class sang Frosty the Snowman. They were very cute. All the kids dressed up in their Sunday best for the occasion. The 8th graders put on a Nativity play which was quite well done. One of the moms said to me afterward that the concert was a great antidote for stress at this time of year — I couldn't agree more.

We celebrated Sophie's 7th birthday a little early this year at the Build-A-Bear Workshop in Livingston Mall. She invited 9 of her friends to join her as they selected bears, outfits, and accessories. It was a lot of fun for them. Every bear gets a heart, and the each of the girls made a wish over the heart they placed into Sophie's bear. They were quite serious about it too. Sophie was presented with the new Hannah Montana bear which made her grin from ear to ear.

After the bears were born we moved on to Applebee's for chicken fingers and cake.

Late November meant it was time for Sophie's annual Montclair shopping trip with our friend Patti. She gets all dressed up and they go out to lunch and then walk around downtown Montclair. It's her girly-girl time and she always has fun. This year was no exception!

The next day Sophie picked out this turkey cake for our Thanksgiving dinner. It looks a little creepy but it was filled with chocolate mousse and tasted great.

[hannah] [fancy hat] Sophie loves hats. She has quite the collection and she'll oftentimes come downstairs in the morning wearing one that we haven't seen in quite a while. She made this purple hat one day last spring at a library story hour.

Halloween saw Sophie dress up as Hannah Montana and then as a witch. Her Brownie troop dressed in their costumes to visit a local assisted living facility. The residents were thrilled to see the girls and they passed out candy and punch. Then her school had a Halloween parade followed by "trunk or treat" in the parking lot. Sophie collected so much loot she had to take a breather before we walked into town to visit the merchants along Bloomfield Avenue. They too were in the Halloween spirit passing out candy and other treats.

[hug dad] [fall day] [cool balloon] [local band] One Saturday in October we walked into town to discover a fall festival on the town green. A local rock band was playing cover tunes and they had pony rides and giveaways from members of the Caldwell Merchants Association. Sophie made a beeline for the balloon guy and he made her a cool heart shaped balloon.

Sophie's friend Alphonso (and his mom) invited Tammy and her to go visit Alstede Farms in Chester, NJ. Every fall they create a giant corn maze for the kids to decipher. They also have hay rides and pumpkin picking too. Sophie came home with 3 very nice pumpkins.

The tenth annual Cedars Block party was held on Saturday September 13th and as usual Sophie (along with everyone else) had a great time.
